Intensive Courses
The Degree Course in Building Engineering-Architecture offers students the opportunity to participate in intensive one-week courses on specific topics in Italy and abroad. The credits awarded for these activities are recognised as part of the 21 free-choice credits included in the course of study.
Scholarships are available to cover all expenses for activities carried out abroad.

The project aims to raise awareness and train students in good practices in sustainable design and architecture, with a multidisciplinary and multicultural approach to existing buildings.
To this end, inter-university groups will be created around the challenge of reusing an existing building in Giessen. These inter-university and interdisciplinary teams will share their approach and knowledge of the building technologies used in their countries to breathe new life into an unused building that is rich in historical significance. The result will be a variety of projects developed with respect for the cultural and social environment.

WATER PLAZA: FROM UTOPIAN DO DYSTOPIAN FUTURES

The BIP offers an intensive workshop dedicated to constructing future scenarios for an iconic square in Lisbon, with a time horizon of 2076. Supported by a structured theoretical and methodological framework, students will develop design proposals based on different urban transformation scenarios. Particular attention will be paid to urban water management as a key element for the resilience and quality of public space.

DESIGNING PUBLIC SPACES THROUGH NBS

The International Summer School is an intensive workshop within the BIP programme. The aim is to design urban public spaces capable of counteracting the effects of climate change through the use of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS). The course combines lectures and design activities to develop skills in climate mitigation through design.

URBAN HEAT ISLAND: FROM PROBLEM TO SOLUTIONS

The BIP aims to bring together students from the EC2U Alliance to explore the pressing issue of urban heat islands (UHI) and develop practical and sustainable solutions. The programme is directly in line with Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, focusing on making urban centres more resilient and liveable in the face of climate change, and is developed on the basis of the results of the MOBCLIM project.
